Abolishment of the G to P Exam
Dear Colleagues,
In reference to the above subject matter, the Members of the Staff-Management Committee on GS Career Prospects are making progress. Informal meetings have taken place with members of the ACABQ and the Fifth Committee (please find the statement attached) where we had a fruitful dialogue discussing concerns from both sides. To further raise awareness on this important matter, a video montage (that was also introduced to ACABQ and the Fifth Committee) was created with the participation of senior members from the administration and our GS staff members.
Regarding the video (please find enclosed the final version), I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all those colleagues who participated, provided their valuable input and their vision concerning this matter. I would also like to thank colleagues in the Audio-Visual Library who provided precious archive footage. Special thanks to the UNTV colleagues who worked with us and provided logistical support for this purpose.
My deepest appreciation goes to Devra who initiated, directed, produced the video as well as put her creative artistic abilities into this product. This video could not have been done without her, so, many thanks to her for that!
As colleagues had noted, we need the help of the Member States to move into a new paradigm where the individual and collective dedication of General Service staff and their intellectual institutional knowledge, as a work force, can be elevated to the recognizable level that will reward those who have rightly achieved the honor, respect and devotion necessary that continues to hallmark the essence of the Organization. Needless to say, more work is still ahead of us in convincing the Member States that there is a need to lift this barrier and allow every staff member to fulfill their individual potential and personal contribution to the overall success of the Organization.
We will not stop until the gavel hits the striking block in December!
